Immigration Fees Guide

Immigration Fees in Spain

Most immigration appointments require paying a government fee beforehand. You’ll use Modelo 790 code 012, pay at a Spanish bank, and bring the stamped receipt to your appointment.

How to Pay

  1. Go to sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/
  2. Select the fee type for your procedure
  3. Fill in your personal details (name, NIE or passport, address)
  4. Generate the form (PDF)
  5. Print it
  6. Take it to any Spanish bank
  7. Pay at the counter (cash or card works)
  8. Keep the stamped receipt

You must pay in person at a bank. Online payment isn’t available for these fees.

What Fees Apply

Government fees apply to NIE assignments, TIE cards, EU registration, EU family cards, return authorizations, and most other immigration procedures. The exact amount depends on what you’re applying for.

Check the 790-012 portal for current amounts. They get updated periodically.

Where to Pay

Any bank in Spain that collaborates with Hacienda. Most do:

  • BBVA
  • Santander
  • CaixaBank
  • Sabadell
  • ING (limited branches)

You don’t need a bank account. Walk in with the printed form and pay at the counter.

Common Mistakes

  • Paying after the appointment instead of before
  • Using the wrong fee code (make sure it’s 012)
  • Trying to pay online (doesn’t work for these)
  • Losing the stamped receipt (you need it at your appointment)
  • Wrong personal details on the form (must match your documents exactly)

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the fee valid?

Generally valid for four years. If your appointment gets cancelled and rescheduled for the same procedure, you don’t need to pay again.

Can I get a refund if my application is denied?

Generally no. The fee covers processing, not approval. Refunds are rare and complicated.

Can I pay for someone else?

Yes. The form has the applicant’s details, but anyone can pay it. Just make sure the form has the correct name and NIE of the person who needs the appointment.
