Appointments Madrid
Madrid has Spain’s largest foreign population (1.19 million as of 2026). That means high demand for appointments and fierce competition for slots.

Which Office Do You Need?
Madrid has several offices handling immigration appointments:
- Comisaría de Policía (Aluche). Main foreigners office, handles most NIE/TIE appointments
- Avenida de los Poblados. Large office, high volume
- Alcobendas. North Madrid, often has better availability
- Getafe. South Madrid
- Móstoles. Southwest, less competition
- Alcalá de Henares. East, often overlooked
All offices process the same documents. An NIE from Alcobendas works the same as one from Aluche.

How to Book Your Appointment
All appointments go through the government portal:
- Go to Cita Previa Extranjería (search Google for “cita previa extranjería”) (the site may be slow. Keep trying)
- Select province: Madrid
- Click “Aceptar”
- Choose your procedure (trámite):
- NIE: “Policía – Certificados y Asignación de NIE”
- TIE: “Policía – Toma de huellas (expedición de tarjeta)”
- EU Registration: “Policía – Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la U.E.”
- EU Family Card: “Policía – Tarjeta de Familiar de Ciudadano de la U.E.”
- Return Authorization: “Policía – Autorización de regreso”
- Enter your passport number and personal details
- Select an office and available date
- Confirm and save your confirmation (print it)
Tip: Check multiple offices. If Aluche shows nothing, try Alcobendas or Getafe.
No Appointments Available?
This is common in Madrid. What works:
- Check early morning (8:00-9:00 AM) when new slots release
- Try surrounding offices. Toledo, Guadalajara, Segovia provinces often have better availability
- Check multiple times daily. Cancellations appear randomly
- Use a Spanish IP. Some users report better results with a VPN
- Be persistent. Slots appear unpredictably

FAQ
Which Madrid office is easiest to get an appointment?
Offices outside the city center (Alcobendas, Móstoles, Alcalá de Henares) typically have better availability than Aluche or Poblados. Check all options when booking.
Can I go to a different province for my NIE appointment?
Yes. If Madrid has no availability, you can book in Toledo, Guadalajara, or Segovia. The NIE is valid nationwide.
What’s the difference between NIE, TIE, and EU Registration?
NIE is just a number (for non-residents doing business in Spain). TIE is the physical card for non-EU residents with a visa. EU Registration (green certificate) is for EU citizens living in Spain over 3 months. Different procedures, same booking portal.
How early should I arrive?
Arrive 15-30 minutes early. Aluche especially has long queues. Bring all documents organized.
